We’ll take you on a truly exceptional trip to the North-western fjords of Iceland where the slopes we ski often end up in the fjords or in a quaint fishing village. The western fjords are a playground with unlimited possibilities for those looking for off piste off the beaten track. Huge slopes, impressive valleys, stunning ski corridors with views over the sea of Greenland and ever more surprising routes await us. On certain outings even a boat will be waiting for us over the other side of the mountain to take us back home to our basecamp. After a good day's skiing, you'll be able to relax in the hot springs.
We'll get a warm welcome from Lisa in her guesthouse in Flateyri, a fisherman's village in the Önundar fjord. We'll share typical Icelandic dinners in a cozy atmosphere whilst the sun disappears in the ocean. It’s a truly unique setting, and if you’re lucky you might even see the Northern Lights… Welcome to Elf country !

Please note this itinerary is an example of a ski touring trip in Iceland's Western Fjords. The guide may adjust certain itineraries and ski areas according to weather and snow conditions as well as participants' abilities. We kindly request you to respect such decision. We may also change accomodation, with the same standards, depending on logistics and availabilities.
Day 1 will be spent travelling to the meeting point, Isafjordur airport. You'll arrive in Isafjordur at day's end.
Access
The slopes may have some short steep passages. You should be at ease with ski touring techniques and skiing on all types of snow. We may also ski on glacier terrain. You should master uphill kick turns without hesitation.
Good physical condition is required, some uphill sections may have to be done on foot. Ascents and descents vary between 800 & 1000 metres per day. Depending on the chosen itinerary, there may be two outings per day. This allows those who want to pursue to do so and those who are tired to rest and relax.
Beware, you're not playing in the skatepark in your neighbourhood: even though you're extremely keen, are craving to make first tracks in the powder snow, don't forget that this trip is far away overseas, in remote areas and rescue services may be slow and often less well organised than in your home country. So keep cool and take it easy to fully enjoy...and please avoid a back flip without knowing what's behind.
For your comfort a pair of Crocs is a good investment and is useful in a minibus, hotel rooms and so on.
Good to know: If you don't have the level required, the guide will be able to ask you to leave for the well-being of the rest of the group, if necessary. If any doubt, please do not hesitate to ask us!
