Fancy skiing in a mountain range other than the Alps? Without travelling to another continent and arriving completely jet-lagged? Then this ski touring trip in the High Tatras, between Poland and Slovakia, is for you!
On the programme: beautiful ski touring itineraries punctuated by relaxing evenings spent in authentic Polish refuges made of wood and stone. It starts gently, with a visit to the town of Zakopane and a traditional restaurant, before gliding down to the start. Throughout the week, we ski from hut to hut, passing alpine passes and summits on the border with Slovakia, mixing beautiful slopes with forest skiing. In the middle of the week, we move on from the Western Tatras to the High Tatras, with even more alpine scenery and crossings over frozen lakes, but always a beautiful refuge to welcome us with typical Polish specialities and a nice bigos (soup/sauerkraut) to warm up, a Szaszłyk (a mixture of deliciously grilled meat and vegetables), then a little Szarlotka (a kind of apple crumble) for a sweet touch, not forgetting a nice vodka (a vodka but better), to digest it all!
Meet at Krakow-Balice John Paul II International Airport (KRK). Mid-afternoon transfer to Zakopane by minibus (approx. 2h30 drive). Discover Zakopane in the evening, a trendy little mountain town. Free time to explore the town. Dinner at the hotel.

The slopes may have some short steep passages. You should be at ease with ski touring techniques and skiing on all types of snow. We may also ski on glacier terrain. You should master uphill kick turns without hesitation.
Good physical condition is required, some uphill sections may have to be done on foot. Ascents and descents vary between 800 & 1200 metres per day. Depending on the chosen itinerary, there may be two outings per day. This allows those who want to pursue to do so and those who are tired to rest and relax.
Beware, you're not playing in the skatepark in your neighbourhood: even though you're extremely keen, are craving to make first tracks in the powder snow, don't forget that this trip is far away overseas, in remote areas and rescue services may be slow and often less well organised than in your home country. So keep cool and take it easy to fully enjoy...and please avoid a back flip without knowing what's behind.
Good to know: If you don't have the required level, the guide might ask you to leave the group for your own safety, that of the group or the well-being of the group as a whole. Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any doubts!
