Ski touring in the Queyras is an unforgetable experience, not only does it boast some stunning itineraries but it also offers a traditional, authentic and unique setting. The stunning beauty of the villages will take your breath away, as will the well preserved architecture and the warm welcome. There's no bling-bling here, just pure unadulterated beauty ! All we need is a packpack with the essentials and set off from our comfortable lodgings to discover new valleys and climb summits everyday ! Our guide knows the area like the back of his hand and will take us there where conditions are best. This is the end of the world, made easy !
Meet up at the train station in Briançon or Montdauphin-Guillestre before heading off in the minibus. The first day is perfect for finding your feet. The environment is superb: le Col Girardin and the Tête de la Favière (2860m). We’ll discover Ceillac and all of its authenticity. We’ll use the ski lifts to reach the lac St Anne then use the ski skins to climb up to the summit. We’ll tip a nostalgic wink to the Ubaye as its massive oak trees stretch out beneath our feet before tackling a stunning and subtle descent from the méandres du vallon to Ceillac.

We’ll head to the Pic des Chalanches in the centre of Clapeyto at the foot of the col de l’Izoard. The vallée d’Arvieux is well worth seeing, and the Pic des Chalanches and the Pic des Chalanches will allow us to savour the magic of the vallon de Clapeyto and the mountain Agneli.

Via the le lac de Souliers that won’t see because of the snow. However, there will be stunning views over the Briançonnais, la vallée de la Durance and of course the Queyras.

Equally little known, the mountain boasts a stunning panorama behind which we will ski some of the last slopes of the trip before heading back to the train station at Briançon or Guillestre for those who are taking the TGV.

Please note this itinerary is an example of a ski touring trip in the Queyras. The guide may adjust certain itineraries according to weather conditions, cable cars and mountain hut accessibilty as well as participants' abilities. We kindly ask you to respect such decision. We may also have to change accomodation, maintaining same standards, according to logistics and availability.
We always do our best, but we can't guarantee the exact time of arrival at the train station (due to traffic or weather conditions). Therefore we strongly advise you to buy train tickets that can easily be modified. If you're travelling by car, we'll meet you at the arrival point, or at one of the drop of points where you'll be able to leave your car for the entire trip.

Free public parking can be found in Briançon (unattended) or just in front of our accommodation.
The slopes may have some short steep passages. You should be at ease with ski touring techniques and skiing on all types of snow. We may also ski on glacier terrain. You should master uphill kick turns without hesitation.
Good physical condition is required, some uphill sections may have to be done on foot. Ascents and descents vary from 500 to 1200 metres per day. Depending on the chosen itinerary, there may be two outings per day. If you're eager you can continue skiing, if you're tired you can rest and relax.
Good to know: If you don't have the required level, the guide might ask you to leave the group for your own safety, that of the group or the well-being of the group as a whole. Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any doubts!

All our mountain guides are certified. We choose them for their sympathy, their teaching and organisational skills. We stay tuned in, work hands in hands, and make sure their working conditions are the best.
Bring a small day pack large enough to carry your personal belongings for the day such as (extra) layers, a few snacks, your picnic and security equipment.
Considering the itinerary may be modified due to mountain and snow conditions, ski lift fares are not included in the price. The definite day to day itinerary will depend on local conditions. For this trip you should budget approx €30 for ski lift fares.

A 30% deposit, as well as the insurance cost if you choose to subscribe the latter, is required to secure your booking. You will receive a reminder email 35 days prior to departure for the outstanding balance due latest 30 days prior to departure.
We strongly recommend you to be properly insured for the chosen activity. You should be covered for medical expenses, personal accident & liabilité, third party risks and rescue (helicopter), as well as trip cancellation or curtailment.
Repatriation and research insurance are mandatory when booking a trip with Azimut. We have a full range of insurances on offer to suit the trip you select and the risks that it may incur.
Tipping is no obligation. However participants usually hand round an envelope for those who wish to tip the guide.
Azimut's minibus is used throughout the whole trip. Not only does this make the trip easier, but it also makes it more pleasant and open: we can chat, sleep and listen to our own music !
During the trip
- Simple, warm, half-board gîte-hotel based on twin rooms, private bathroom and shower facilities in the hotel, bed linen provided, towels supplied. Depending on the composition of the group, you may be with someone of the opposite sex. And depending on accommodation availability, you may exceptionally be accommodated in a triple or quadruple room.
- Double room supplement: €90/person (subject to availability with accommodation)
- Single room supplement: €130/person (subject to availability with accommodation)
- Breakfasts and dinners are taken in the accommodation, picnics at lunchtime, our picnics are made up of quality products, cold meats, bread, cheese, a bar of chocolate and a piece of fruit or compote.
- Snacks : details are important, especially after such demanding physical effort ! We've chosen to supply tasty, high-quality cereal bars.
Before & after ski touring trips
As soon as you register, we'll send you the contact details of accommodation providers where you can spend the night before and after your trip. This accommodation is close to the meeting points and you will often benefit from a preferential rate.
Depending on your itinerary, it may be easier to join the guide at our logistics base in Cervières so that you can use our minibus to get to the starting point of the trip. On request, we can book you an overnight stay before or after your trip at the Lodge Le Petit Cerf, which is our basecamp located exactly at the same place as our agency.
Make sure to wear bright colours, it's good for the soul and gives photos a funky edge !
Ski gear (all in excellent condition)
Security advice: avalanche airbag backpacks are highly recommended.
They help to stay on the surface in case of avalanche and minimize the risk of burial. Our guides use them and we highly recommend you to opt for high quality and reliable gear. If you don't have an avalanche airbag we rent them out at a very competitive price.
If you don't have the adequate equipment for the trip, don't worry and travel light: we rent out the required gear and hand it over at the start of the trip ! Our equipment is relatively new, if not brand new, of good quality and adapted to your choice of activity.
