Keen to try ski touring ? Then you might as well hit for the best straight away: Chaaaam ! Being a beginner doesn't mean to say you're condemned to ski cow hills. In the Mont Blanc mountain range, surrounded by prestigious summits and with a panorama out of this world, you'll feel the passion - and once you've tasted it - it'll be difficult to go backwards (especially with skins under your skis, it's not really practical) ! May it be France, Switzerland or Italy, you'll realise there's only one religion here: the one that combines ski and cheese. Amen.
We meet you either at the train station in Chamonix or the one in St Gervais - Le Fayet, with our minibus. You should be wearing your ski outfit.
You meet up with the guide and leave for the Grands Montets with our minibus. It's the first day, we take it easy and warm up. Distributing the gear may take some time, but don't worry, we'll easily make up for it, today and on the other days. We ski at Les Grands Montets, on and off-piste, to get back into it. This day will also enable to guide to assess everyone's level, to revise or learn safety techniques, to do some climbing with skis so you'll see what it's all about. No stress, we're jusst getting to know each other. At the end of the day we head for our gîte in the valley.

Please note this itinerary is an example of a ski touring trip in the Chamonix and Aosta valleys. The guide may adjust certain itineraries and ski areas according to weather and snow conditions as well as participants' abilities. We kindly ask you to respect such decision. Ski touring may take place in France, Italy and Switzerland. We may also change accomodation, maintaining identical standards, according to logistics and availabilities.
In case practices and customs defined by the local guide authorities change, estimating the reasonable number of clients per guide, for safety reasons, Azimut respects these, even last minute, decisions. Such cases are rare and mostly related to exceptional conditions in the mountains. Therefore some compensation may be requested from your side due to less participants per guide.
We always do our best, but we can't guarantee the exact time of arrival at the train station (due to traffic or weather conditions). Therefore we strongly advise you to buy train tickets that can easily be modified. If you're travelling by car, we'll meet you at the arrival point, or at one of the drop of points where you'll be able to leave your car for the entire trip.
The last day, we try to make it back to Oulx by 5 pm, but we cannot guarantee this.

Good physical condition is required, some uphill sections may have to be done on foot. Ascents and descents vary from 800 to 1000 metres per day. Depending on the chosen itinerary, there may be two outings per day. If you're eager you can continue skiing, if you're tired you can rest and relax.
Good to know: if you don't have the level required, the guide will be able to ask you to leave for the well-being of the rest of the group if necessary. If any doubt, please do not hesitate to ask us !
