Chile, land of extremes! From the Atacama desert in the north to the glaciers of Patagonia in the south, 4,000km of contrasts. South of Santiago, Araucania and the Great Lakes region are dotted with mostly active volcanoes. Pay attention to the connection in Santiago de Chile: make sure that the transfer between the international flight and the domestic flight takes place at the same airport.

Please note: Only buy the flights for this trip once we have confirmed that your departure is guaranteed!

Group
4 to 6 people.

Skiers only, no splitboards accepted.

AZIMUT mountain guide from France.

We work with a great team of guides. We choose them mainly for their friendliness, their teaching skills and their organisational skills. We listen carefully to our guides, work with them and make sure that their working conditions and pay are the best they can be.

Travel during the trip
Minivan-type vehicle.

Carrying
Light bag, just the day's gear, a few snacks and safety equipment. An airbag is strongly recommended.

Ski lifts
No ski lifts provided, but it is possible to take them, so bring some cash.

Technical and physical level

Technical level
For good skiers in all types of snow. Days skiing at a very good pace. Slopes can include steep and sometimes exposed sections (40-45°). Very good command of ski touring and skiing in all types of snow.

Physical level
Full day's skiing at a good pace. Positive vertical drop may exceed 1200m/day.

Be careful though, you're not playing in the skatepark near the house: you're motivated, you want to make some good tracks, send some big stuff... No worries, but bear in mind that long-distance trips are in remote areas and that rescue is often long and much less well organised than in the Alps. So keep cool, slow down a bit to get the most out of the area... and don't do a backflip without knowing what's behind it.

Details of all the levels HERE

‘Please note: If you do not have the required level, the guide will be able to ask you to leave the group for the well-being of the whole group. Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any doubts!

Clothing
This equipment list contains a series of tips on equipment, but it does not require you to have the latest equipment. If you'd like to re-equip yourself or add to your equipment, take advantage of our advice to get the right gear that's light, warm and comfortable. Good equipment makes for a successful holiday!

For your head

- Warm hat or headband / Neck warmer or Buff

- Ski mask and sunglasses with UV4 protection. Photochromic lenses adapt to light conditions and vary from index 2 to index 4 to optimise visibility between light and shade. Very practical.

- Ski helmet (recommended)

For the body

- Technical underwear: long-sleeved top and tights for added warmth under trousers. Tip: Merinos wool has the advantage of being highly breathable and antibacterial, so it retains odours less than synthetic materials. Think about it if you need to re-equip yourself.

- Lightweight fleece jacket / Synthetic down jacket with hood to slip under the Gore Tex and provide extra warmth during breaks / Jacket with waterproof, breathable membrane such as Gore Tex or soft shell, lightweight and compressible to take up less space in the rucksack.

- Trousers with waterproof, breathable Gore Tex-type membrane. Models with leg vents are recommended for ascents.

- Light gloves (fleece or soft shell) / Warm gloves with waterproof, breathable Gore Tex-type membrane / Silk under-gloves. Mittens are a good solution for very cold days or people who are sensitive to the cold.

- A swimming costume takes up so little space in your luggage that it would be a shame not to have one if you need it! Avoid shorts, as they are not widely accepted in swimming pools and baths.

For your feet

- Ski socks. Merinos wool has the advantage of being highly breathable and antibacterial, so it retains odours less than synthetic materials. Think about it if you need to re-equip yourself.

- Slippers / Crocs recommended for the evening.

Luggage & miscellaneous
- 1L water bottle, thermos flask or Camelback, pocket knife, duck tape (resistant scoth), sun cream factor 50.

- 110-litre duffle-type travel bag, to be left at the accommodation or in the vehicle. No hard cases.

Toiletries & first-aid kit

- Toiletry bag with personal kit

- We advise you to use the Iffremont website to put together your first-aid kit.

Our partner brands
Our guides are equipped with these brands and you will be able to see and test the equipment on our trips

SCOTT
Arva
Fitschi swiss bindings

Final recommendations before departure
Don't forget

-Leave our contact details with your friends and family
Take your identity papers (up-to-date passport and visa for trips requiring them)
-Take your policy number and the details of your insurer if you have not taken out insurance with Azimut.
-Take your Vitale card and we also recommend the European Health Insurance Card - free of charge and on request: www.ameli.fr
-Check that you have the required equipment
-Take batteries / chargers for your camera / avalanche transceiver
-Take cash or your credit card
-Leave cool and relaxed, you'll be fine! And even if you don't make it to the top, you'll still have had a great time!
-Before you leave, water the plants, take out the bins, turn off the water and gas, and tell your partner (other than by text message) that you're off to have a good time ... because you really need it! Anything you forget in this last recommendation will come back with a vengeance when you return.

We'll be waiting for you! Happy racing with AZIMUT!
