Day to day

Day  1 - Transfer and Quiky ride

Meet at Briançon and off to the Valle Stura. You are already in your best mountain bike outfit for the meeting! We will pass by the Queyras and the Ubaye before arriving in our Piedmontese valley.

Today we start cool, we get to know each other by chatting! We go up on a road to get a feel of the Valle Stura: a wild valley with unusual landscapes! Get your pupils ready: it's going to sting!

After the warm up (and the snack, some of you are following I see!) and having reviewed the basics, gooo for a pure descent of almost 1000m of difference in altitude. Yeah, we are not here to put socks on a centipede!

Then direction our beautiful hotel to settle down and to enjoy the local specialities (of which some hopped)!

Ascent/descent: +600m / -600m

Distance: 16km

Meal included: dinner

Accommodation included: night in hotel

Day 2 : Spaghetti power tour

Well, we know each other, we like each other, no need to wait, we're going for a nice single! You enjoy, we take care of the rest.

From Valloriate, this "delizioso" circuit takes crazy, wild paths, on ridges where the panorama makes you want to stop every 5 minutes! But, no, we'll keep on riding and riding and riding! (yeah it's only the beginning, ok ok - Cabrel addict)

Deniv : + 1320m / -1320m

Distance : 40km

Meals included this day : Breakfast, dinner

Accommodation included this day : Night in hotel

Day 3 - Fungi stazione

We still trifle in the forests of chestnut trees, that unwinds of the single still and still. We are in good shape, it adheres well, we enjoy ourselves! At Azimut we are addicts of the bug, it stings but it offers a flow to roll on the ground like a boar. Yes, that's also the "Valle Stura" effect!

Deniv: +640m / -640m

Distance: 19km

Meals included this day : Breakfast, dinner

Accommodation included this day : Night in hotel

Day 4 - Superlove tour

Are you ready? Yes, you are ready! Well, you're in for a real treat!

Trying to convince yourself that you're going to love it is pointless. Ride with us and tell us about it! As you can see, our run names are not random - shhhh! Starting from Sambuco, these trails are crazy. They offer access to sublime, unusual places! Happiness in bar, the heart of the chicken we tell you!

Deniv: +1760m / -1760m

Distance: 33km

Meals included this day : Breakfast, dinner

Accommodation included this day : Night in hotel

Day 5 - Miky way (to paradise)

Big, big, beautiful, unusual, wild, magnificent, exceptional, unique... that's the program of this big trip in altitude today!

Here, you ride on the best of the Azimut boss (if he knows that this big single is on the program, I'm out)

There, it's sure, after this day, we will have touched your heart.... and your plates too! The debriefing will be refreshing and wild, we take the bet on which singletrack has bluffed you the most...

Deniv: + 1740m / -1740m

Distance: 40km

Meals included this day : Breakfast, dinner

Accommodation included this day : Night in hotel

Day 6 - Panini power

Yes, we still have singles from behind the scenes. You will be obliged to ride one of our nuggets and finish this crazy trip in beauty. From Vinadio, we go up gently to enjoy this last tour in Italian lands. You will be well advised to have taken a good breakfast, this circuit will be shorter but just as wild and dismayed!

It's time to choose your best song to come back to the Alps with our minibus. Or to have a good nap, while dreaming of the magnificent singles you've been riding all week and saying to yourself: when is the next vacation again?

Deniv: +1380m / -1380m

Distance: 22km

Meals included this day : Breakfast

How technical does it get ? How fit should I be ?

  • Skill level ***

You should be at ease with long and demanding descents. You're able to deal with hairpin bends and tackle back-breaking inclines, master your brakes, hop over small tricky sections (tree roots, rocks, steps). Descents are often long and sustained (but progressive as the week goes on), sometimes steep, often technically demanding, sometimes exposed sections but rarely dangerous. You'll end being an expert rider or maybe even an ace in mountain biking skills !

  • Stamina level **

For occasional mountain bikers and/or regular sportsmen and women. We'll be riding on progressive 4x4 tracks, with occasional steep sections. Expect to climb between 600m and 1000m per day.  which is very affordable on an electric mountain bike

Good to know: If you don't have the required level, the guide might ask you to leave the group for your own safety, that of the group or the well-being of the group as a whole. Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any doubts!

Technical gear

  • E-bike: all mountain type or enduro bike, with platform pedals or your own clip-in pedals (that we can mount on a rental bike)
  • For E-bikes, if you're bringing your own bike, remember to charge it, bring your charger and check the condition of your brake pads, chain, cassette and derailleur. Also check the condition of your tyres, make sure your spokes are tight and your wheel is not warped. In short, your E-bike needs to run like clockwork!

For this type of trip, we recommend :

    - A full-suspension ebike with a suspension travel of at least 140mm.

    - An ebike with a 500W battery and battery key.

  • Please remember to charge your battery for day 1

  • Backpack with a 20-25 liter capacity max
  • Helmet & sunglasses are mandatory
  • Mountain biking gloves (an extra pair of warm gloves can be useful)
  • Knee and elbow protectors are highly recommended
  • Low hiking shoes with flat soles, or your shoes for your clip-in pedals
  • Repair kit including a set of brake pads (that match your brakes), a spare derailleur hanger, a quick link for your own chain, a pump, self adhesive patches, inner tubes with the right dimensions and anything else that may be specific to your bike.

If you don't have the adequate gear for this trip, don't worry and travel light: we rent out the required gear and hand it over at the start of the trip ! Our equipment is relatively new, if not brand new, of good quality and adapted to your choice of activity.

Clothes

This list of clothes is designed to give you an idea of clothes that it may be a good to have with you. By no means do you need to have the latest brands or the latest gear, but if you need to renew your wardrobe, this guide would be a good start. Prefer lightweight warm and comfortable clothing. This is not just a detail, it makes a hell of a difference !

Headwear

  • Sunglasses and glasses with clear lenses for forest sections and cloudy days (it's important to protect your eyes). Photochromic lenses adapt to light intensity and protection categories range from 1 to 3 or 2 to 4 to optimize visibility from shade to brightness. Very useful.
  • A buff and/or thin beanie that you can put under your helmet if it's cold.

Bodywear

  • Under layer: breathable long sleeved top as well as leggings to maintain heat. A tip: merino wool is breathable and has anti-bacterial properties and is therefore less likely to smell as opposed to synthetic fabrics. Have this in mind if you need to update your wardrobe.
  • Outer layer: a light fleece jacket and/or a light hooded down jacket that you can put under a jacket that has a breathable waterproof membrane (soft shell type or Goretex), easy to slip on during a break. Make sure it's lightweight and compact so it doesn't take up too much space in your backpack
  • Bottom layer: mountain biking shorts and leggings in case it gets cold
  • Hands: light fleece or soft shell gloves, a pair of silk glove liners to go underneath, warm gloves with a breathable and waterproof membrane.
  • Swimming gear: it takes up such little space, it would be a shame not to bring it just in case. Avoid swimming shorts or bermudas, they are not usually allowed in pools or hot water springs baths.
  • Good to have: an extra t-shirt in your bike backpack, appreciated after a big sweat on an uphill ride).

Footwear

  • Bike socks: merino wool socks are breathable and have anti-bacterial properties and are less likely to smell as opposed to those made of synthetic fabrics. Remember this if you need to stock up.
  • Slippers or crocs are recommended for evening wear. Try charentaises they're really comfy ! www.charentaises.fr

Odds & ends

  • a 1 litre flask (Thermos or Camelback)
  • a pocket knife
  • duck tape
  • factor 50 suncream
  • a duffle bag holding up to 90 litres to leave at the gĂ®te, avoid suitcases.

Toiletries and first aid kit

  • Personal toilet bag
  • To make up your a first aid kit, check out the Ifremmont website.

  • Bring your papers and I.D. (passport and visa if necessary)
  • Bring your insurance contract number and documents (if you've chosen not to have insure coverage with us)
  • Bring your “carte vitale” or your European health card (for EU citizens) - if you don't have one you can order one for free online  www.ameli.fr
  • Check that you have the right equipment
  • Take spare batteries and a charger for your electronic devices such as camera, video recorder, tracking devices
  • Bring some cash and your credit card
  • Leave in a good frame of mind: we're going to have a great time even if we may not happen to not make it to the summit !
  • Before leaving: water the plants, empty the rubbish bin, turn off water and gas, and tell your partner that you're going to have a good time (please not by text message), that you've well deserved... If you don't follow the latter recommendation, you'll most probably kick yourself when you get back!
