Day to day

Day 1 : Welcome and first Provencal singles

For this first day, welcome and transfer from Briançon

This first day of the enduro MTB course is dedicated to the welcome from the TGV station of Aix en Provence and the transfer to the Luberon.

Then, check of the gear, equipment, reminder of the MTB techniques, etc... and goooooo !

Let's go for a niiice little loop to get used to this particular land full of surprises! Evaluation of the needs, desires, but we do not forget to gorge ourselves of trajectories! A bewitching canyon will already make you prick your retinas! Then GO to discover the hotel where a cold beer will be the first debrief of the course!

After a technical loop on the plateau to warm up our muscles ready to fight, we dive into the canyon of the Aigue Brun for a ride of anthology! Pif-pafs, steps, singles in edge of cliffs, it is going to be the regalaaaade all the day! Several descents will be offered just for you, around perched villages and other geological features. The must to emphasize your refined driving!

Along this route, a little heritage moment with the discovery of the "aiguiers" : these basins dug in the rock (it will be for the breaks, we are not here to put socks on a centipede !)

On the level of E-bike piloting, you will be served: singles in will you in voilĂ , turns in gogo, descents AOP Luberon pure enduro where you will be so happy that you will have gnats in the teeth! 3 long specials on the program, which can be completed by a fourth if the bikes want more!

Refreshing debriefing around the pool, nothing better to recover !

Day 4 : Secret spot in the Ochres: Foot out, flat out !

For this last day, we will make a short ride, but of anthology! If you are curious about mountain biking, you have surely already heard about the Ochres of Luberon, these old mines to ride! A total change of scenery where even your bike will change color!

We'll take you riding on this "secret spot", on trails with an incredible flow, where you'll be able to say: I was there! Don't be fooled by the distance: we'll really ride a lot of fun loops that are just too much to handle! After having dusted ourselves off, we will be able to enjoy our last snack on Provencal soil (we recommend the delicious "pissaladière", it shakes up a rider like never before!

Then that is it, it is the hour to separate, transfer towards the points of dispersion. We say to each other very soon, for the discovery of other magic places! Because yes, the Azimut spirit is that: to come back on other stays to be enriched by new meetings in fabulous places!

How technical does it get ? How fit should I be ?

  • Skill level **

For mountain bikers who are already passionate about their sport and have a number of mountain biking experiences. You have a good command of gear shifting and braking, and are capable of overcoming an obstacle by lightening the bike, and climbing up or down short steep sections. Mountain bikers who want to improve their skills on singletrack descents that are rarely steep, sometimes technical (rocks, roots, etc.) but not exposed. Ideal for reinforcing the basics to acquire the grail of level 3!

  • Stamina level **

For mountain bikers who already ride regularly, or who are regular sportsmen and women. We'll be riding on progressive 4x4 trails, with occasional steep sections. Expect to climb between 600m and 1400m per day, which is very affordable on an electric mountain bike.

Good to know: If you don't have the required level, the guide might ask you to leave the group for your own safety, that of the group or the well-being of the group as a whole. Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any doubts!

Clothes

This list of clothes is designed to give you an idea of clothes that it may be a good to have with you. By no means do you need to have the latest brands or the latest gear, but if you need to renew your wardrobe, this guide would be a good start. Prefer lightweight warm and comfortable clothing. This is not just a detail, it makes a hell of a difference !

Headwear

  • Sunglasses and glasses with clear lenses for forest sections and cloudy days (it's important to protect your eyes). Photochromic lenses adapt to light intensity and protection categories range from 1 to 3 or 2 to 4 to optimize visibility from shade to brightness. Very useful.
  • A buff and/or thin beanie that you can put under your helmet if it's cold.

Bodywear

  • Under layer: breathable long sleeved top as well as leggings to maintain heat. A tip: merino wool is breathable and has anti-bacterial properties and is therefore less likely to smell as opposed to synthetic fabrics. Have this in mind if you need to update your wardrobe.
  • Outer layer: a light fleece jacket and/or a light hooded down jacket that you can put under a jacket that has a breathable waterproof membrane (soft shell type or Goretex), easy to slip on during a break. Make sure it's lightweight and compact so it doesn't take up too much space in your backpack
  • Bottom layer: mountain biking shorts and leggings in case it gets cold
  • Hands: light fleece or soft shell gloves, a pair of silk glove liners to go underneath, warm gloves with a breathable and waterproof membrane.
  • Swimming gear: it takes up such little space, it would be a shame not to bring it just in case. Avoid swimming shorts or bermudas, they are not usually allowed in pools or hot water springs baths.
  • Good to have: an extra t-shirt in your bike backpack, appreciated after a big sweat on an uphill ride).

Footwear

  • Bike socks: merino wool socks are breathable and have anti-bacterial properties and are less likely to smell as opposed to those made of synthetic fabrics. Remember this if you need to stock up.
  • Slippers or crocs are recommended for evening wear. Try charentaises they're really comfy ! www.charentaises.fr

Odds & ends

  • a 1 litre flask (Thermos or Camelback)
  • a pocket knife
  • duck tape
  • factor 50 suncream
  • a duffle bag holding up to 90 litres to leave at the gĂ®te, avoid suitcases.

Toiletries and first aid kit

  • Personal toilet bag
  • To make up your a first aid kit, check out the Ifremmont website.

And last but not least...

Don't forget to

  • Bring your papers and I.D. (passport and visa if necessary)
  • Bring your insurance contract number and documents (if you've chosen not to have insure coverage with us)
  • Bring your “carte vitale” or your European health card (for EU citizens) - if you don't have one you can order one for free online  www.ameli.fr
  • Check that you have the right equipment
  • Take spare batteries and a charger for your electronic devices such as camera, video recorder, tracking devices
  • Bring some cash and your credit card
  • Leave in a good frame of mind: we're going to have a great time even if we may not happen to not make it to the summit !
  • Before leaving: water the plants, empty the rubbish bin, turn off water and gas, and tell your partner that you're going to have a good time (please not by text message), that you've well deserved... If you don't follow the latter recommendation, you'll most probably kick yourself when you get back!
